Sh! Bondage Rope Review

I absolutely love being tied up. Equally I find I feel more in control when restraining using rope than cuffs or spreaders, it feels more intimidating. I’ve long admired the art of Shibari bondage, the patterns created by the rope are beautiful and elegant. I recently wrote a blog post about my love of rope bondage so when Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium offered me the chance to review their own brand bondage rope I jumped at the chance. Bondage rope is a soft rope which is kinder to your skin than conventional rope, designed to bind securely but not to damage the skin. The package arrived quickly in typical Sh! style in a nice discreet parcel, nobody would have suspected what was inside.

Opening the parcel the Sh! Bondage Rope was packaged very simply in a white box with a clear lid sporting a Sh! sticker. Simple and understated, I liked the no frills presentation. The rope itself is ten metres of beautiful soft bondage rope. It’s available in 3 colours, a hot red, a bright purple and classic black. I like the way the black looks against my pale skin in terms of dramatic impact. The rope is very soft and smooth under the fingers and stroking the bundle I could already see I was going to enjoy being trussed up by the Sh! Bondage rope. Unwinding it I was pleased to see no fraying in the lengths and neat plastic wrapped ends. There were a few small pulls in the fibres but nothing that would impact use although you may dislike that if you’re particularly worried by aesthetics. The Sh! Bondage Rope is constructed of lots of tiny tight braids and feels exceptionally strong as I tugged on it, with a slight stretch to it. The real test would be how it felt against my skin.

The Sh! Bondage Rope knots beautifully, it has a nice chunky circumference to aid in weight distribution and a silky feel which makes creating knots easy as pie. It slides through your hands with real grace as you weave the rope around the item being tied up or down. I encountered no problems with tangling in use and it untied just as nicely as it tied, requiring just a slight wriggle to loosen the knots. The length is perfect for suspending arms or legs if bound together or simple harnesses but for anything very complex you would need more than one roll of rope.

Being tied up by Sh! Bondage Rope is very enjoyable indeed. Whilst being tied up I felt no discomfort against my skin. During wear there was no chaffing or rubbing and even during prolonged periods I didn’t feel rope burn. As long as the knots are tied correctly I can’t see the Sh! Bondage rope ever cutting into you or breaking the skin. This said it left me with some lovely rope marks that lasted about a day, however this was after prolonged use.  I even enjoyed using Sh! Bondage rope when playing on my own, using it to secure my Doxy Wand to my thigh giving me hands free, solo, forced orgasms. Even on my most delicate skin The Sh! Bondage rope felt amazing, it was great for binding my boobs in a bikini harness and created a perfect friction when tied up as a crotch rope against my clit. I found I was able to reach a wonderful climax from rubbing against the rope on the side of my clit. I experimented with various single and double column ties whilst playing with my Sh! Bondage Rope  and can honestly say I found it a joy to both bind with and be bound with equally.

The only slight downside to the Sh! Bondage rope I found was it collected fluff and hair like crazy and actually came with small grass like fibres clinging to it, however these were easily removed and certainly didn’t impact on the use, merely the visual. Although I did like the generous length for harnesses and complicated knots I did think it was a little long for basic single/double column knots, unless you need the length to secure or suspend. If you’re merely restricting movement you’re left with a fair bit or excess rope, however this isn’t really a downside as it makes the Sh! Bondage rope more versatile.

Cleaning bondage rope is important as it tends to get soaked in sweat and bodily fluids just like other sex toys. I washed my Sh! Bondage rope in warm water with a little washing liquid and fabric softener and left it to dry totally before storage. It was very easy to wash and despite my concerns I was surprised by how little colour bled out during washing. After washing and drying my Sh! Bondage rope was as good as new. I found the Sh! Bondage rope to be exciting both visually and against my skin and will definitely be investing in another roll.

The Sh! Bondage Rope is priced at £15.00 for 10m which is good value for such a good quality, comfortable rope. You can find this and other bondage accessories at Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium

I was sent the Sh! Bondage rope by Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium in exchange for an honest impartial review. No affiliate links have been used in this review.
